Friend or Foe

What makes someone a good friend?

What qualities does it take?

Hmmm, I am willing to bet these are questions everyone has asked themselves at least once in life. I have come up with a number of answers. For Starters a good friend should understand you and accept you for who you are and not what you should be – according to them. A good friend should be able to keep your secrets and never divulge them to a third person under any circumstances – except when it’s for your own good. A good friend should give you an honest opinion – not a diplomatic opinion – when asked. He/she should be critical of you when criticism is warranted. They should bring you back to earth if you are floating in your own delusional world. They should not be bothered about offering blunt advice if that’s what is needed.

Along side of those few things a good friend would be someone…

who expects no favors back from you and does not value your worth based on favors returned.

who would be a selfless person who values your friendship more than material gains that can be had through his/her association with you.

would be someone who stands by you through thick and thin and supports you in your most difficult and darkest hours.

would never leave your side when you need them the most.

that doesn’t judge you for your shortcomings; instead, offers suggestions and advice to help you overcome those weak points.

whom you can count on when the rest of your family and supposed friends walk out on you.

who believes in you and supports you when all the rest think you are a goner and desert you.

Obviously, if you find someone who carries all of these qualities. Hold on to them, don’t be stupid. They are a rare breed and you’d do well to appreciate their worth and keep them.

The final #Reverb10

Sift through all the photos of you from the past year. Choose one that best captures you; either who you are, or who you strive to be. Find the shot of you that is worth a thousand words. Share the image, who shot it, where, and what it best reveals about you.

Summer 2010 (Self Portrait), Myself and Z, Love Life Happiness.

Summer 2010 (Self), Dinner with friends… How many times can you send back meat? about a dozen. Simple moments can mean the most.

December 26 – Soul Food

What did you eat this year that you will never forget? What went into your mouth & touched your soul?

As you see above I have had some memorable meals. Not always great but still memorable. I would have to say the best things I have eaten this year have been fresh fruit it has taken on a whole new place in my life replacing the bad sugars that once were. Also the best meal I have had this year was at Snug Harbor. This place is amazing… wait amazing is an understatement. Snug Harbor’s Keuka Spring Merlot French Onion Gratinee is the best French Onion soup I have ever had in my life and Art Kelly the Chef is amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone. No restaurant compares after having this food. I can not wait to go back and yes you will want desert and no you will not have room but it is completely worth every bite and you will be sitting there laughing with your best friend saying “omg I am so full but this deserves to be ate.”

December 27 – Ordinary Joy Our most profound joy is often experienced during ordinary moments. What was one of your most joyful ordinary moments this year?

Laughing hysterically with a friend who is not a friend anymore. I am going to call her Rachel because of the show Friends, we both love. The moments when we could not stop laughing even when it hurt. Now I am crying and crying is healthy but I am going to move on but the ordinary moments are the ones that matter.

December 28 – Achieve What’s the thing you most want to achieve next year? How do you imagine you’ll feel when you get it? Free? Happy? Complete? Blissful? Write that feeling down. Then, brainstorm 10 things you can do, or 10 new thoughts you can think, in order to experience that feeling today.

I really want to achieve personal health not that I am in horrible health but I would like to live by what I preach. I want to work out more, drink less, eat better. I think this will make me feel complete. I am way to tired to brainstorming.

December 29 – Defining Moment Describe a defining moment or series of events that has affected your life this year.

Rachel – came into my life and left my life. The lessons I learned from this will stay with me forever.

V- Knowing love teaches you how love again.

My boy – simple moments are what make life worth living and you need them, cherish them or you will lose site of what is important in this crazy world.

December 30 – Gift Prompt: Gift. This month, gifts and gift-giving can seem inescapable. What’s the most memorable gift, tangible or emotional, you received this year?

This might sound silly but my sister KT got me a creme brulee torch for Christmas and I love it. Really though, I rather be the giver than the receiving. I love the moments when I have given gifts this year. V’s birthday I bought him a new computer monitor. I did not have time to wrap it. He said it didn’t matter that he loved it anyways. I fussed and fussed about needing wrapping paper because I wanted to see him unwrap it but I see now that the smile he had been just as good.

December 31 – Core Story What central story is at the core of you, and how do you share it with the world?

This might be the lazy way out but.. read my blog. I am just being me and it my core story. A simple girl just trying to fit in.
